Franz Ittenbach (April 18, 1813 – December 1, 1879) was a German religious painter known for his association with the Nazarene movement and the Düsseldorfer Malerschule. Born in Königswinter, he studied under Kaufmann and Franz Katz before joining the Düsseldorf Academy, where he was influenced by President Schadow.

Ittenbach traveled across Germany with friends Karl Müller, Andreas Müller, and Ernst Deger and lived in Italy from 1839 to 1842. He returned to Düsseldorf in 1849, dedicating his life to church decoration and turning down commissions for mythological subjects. His notable artworks, including a Holy Family from 1861 for Prince Liechtenstein, are found in various Catholic churches in Germany, as well as at the St. Remigius Church in Bonn and a church in Breslau.

A popular figure in court circles and a member of several European academies, Ittenbach received numerous accolades, focusing primarily on altar pieces throughout his career.
